FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Community Partners to Host “Raising Safe Digital Kids” Parent Workshop
Quincy, WA — Quincy School District, in partnership with Quincy Partnership for Youth and the Washington State Health Care Authority, will host a free parent workshop focused on online safety for children and teens.
The event, titled “Raising Safe Digital Kids: Parent Strategies for Online Safety,” will take place on April 29, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Quincy Middle School.
There will be a light dinner available 5:30-6:00 before the event begins and childcare available as well!
This is a chance for parents and caregivers to better understand the digital world kids are growing up in today, from social media and gaming to messaging apps and new risks connected to artificial intelligence. Attendees will also learn how to recognize warning signs, set healthy digital boundaries, and respond if a problem occurs online.
Most importantly, this is a community conversation where parents can ask questions directly and hear from local experts in real time.
Panel of local experts includes representatives from:
· Quincy School District leadership and staff
· Law enforcement (School Resource Officer)
· Mental health and counseling services
· ESD 171 threat assessment support
“Families don’t have to have all the answers before they walk through the door on April 29. They can come as they are, bring their questions, and learn from the experts, from our district staff, and from one another. Keeping our children safe in digital spaces is not something any one family or school can do alone. It truly takes all of us,” Nik Bergman, Quincy School District superintendent.
The event is open to parents and caregivers of children of all ages. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with local experts.
